I am a 26 yr. member of Coastal Crescent kennel Club...past board member, past Vice Presdent, and past President.
I got a little girl in Sept. 2005, and called her Glory. Glory was to be bred twice, and her second litter, sired by Ch. Brandina Carmylie Double Digit,, produced a really nice girl I named Ellie May...Donnan's By Heavenly Design. By now I had made a good aqaintance in Melissa from NC, Misty Mt. Shelties ,and she really adored Ellie May from afar,,so it was to be Ellie would move to NC with Melissa...and well someday she just may come home again to Maine. I knew I had to invest in some really good lines to kind of start over, as I wanted to really produce some show quality Shelties. Ellie May was one, but I need a bitch that would consistently give me some quality in puppies. I was lucky to come upon Rose in Oregon who agreed to sell me Venice. Granite Gables Tresta In Venice is her reg. AKC name. She had had only 1 litter when I picked her up in Boston with 2 of her puppies that were 9 weeks old, that went on to Canada a week later. In June 2011, I was blessed to be able to aquire a very pretty 6 mo. old red sable puppy girl from Grandagables in Canada. Another little piece of my dream, that is gradually coming true. Thank you so much Guy and Mark( International judges) for entrusting me with Geisha Girl.
March 8, 2011 Venice had 4 boys and 1 girl by Ch.Brandina Carmylie Double Digit...all are now in their new homes in 1 in NH, 3 in Maine, and 1 in Texas. Venice will be moving to New Mexico very soon, to hopefully help out another person with thier breeding program. We will miss her.
Hips and eyes are done on all breeding dogs before they are bred, and I will require that of any bitches that may come to me to be bred to any stud dog I may own. I am also very picky about where my babies go of course. Pets are sold on a spay/neuter contract only.
In August 2011 Aleta Canady of Whisperwind Shelties in Va. was kind enough to let a pretty boy come to me that is another Flash son out of a Coastal bitch. His name will be Whisperwind Donnan Storm Watch..and we will be watching him hopefully mature into a handsome young boy one day. He was born May 8, 2011. Rhett is his call name. Rhett will be residing in a companion home as of Oct. 6, 2012.
Wintercreek Easy Rider now makes his home at Donnan Shelties..he has both his major points, and only needs 2 points to finish.
You will never see me breed more than 2 litters per year, but usally it will only be one litter a year. I am not in this hobby to become a big time breeder of quantity. I want to be small, and produce quality. Of all attributes, temperamant is of course #1. A person has to have a dog they can live with after all. My babies are raised in my computer/spare bedroom with radio on all the time, heat lamp, and really nice whelping box for them to grow in. They will hear the phone, vacumn, pots and pans,my grandson playing sometimes loudly, and all aspects of daily life to start them off right. They are handled from day one to get them to bond to humans, and look to them for all their needs.
Shelties are very, very, intelligent, so one must be at least as intelligent to own one, or they will run the house. They are barkers, as a rule, so at times bark softning may be needed if you live in a neighborhood where nieghbors may complain. But for the most part, having just one Sheltie as a pet, one should not have a problem with barking. Its when two or more are gathered the barking begins......Shelties are just downright fun, and comicle too! And so.........
"let the dream begin".
